Established in 1987 by Gerald and Mary O’Connor, O’Connor Opticians began as a small, family‑run practice in Wilton Shopping Centre with a simple vision, to provide warm, personalised eye care to the people of Cork. Over the years, that vision helped the practice grow organically as word spread about the expert care and personal attention patients experienced. In 2010, the practice moved to its current location on Bishopstown Road, where it continues to serve families from across Cork city and beyond with the same dedication and community spirit that has defined it since the beginning.
Even as the business has grown and modernised, O’Connor Opticians has stayed true to its roots, offering unhurried appointments, thorough eye examinations, and genuine care for each individual’s vision and eye health. Many patients have been coming here for years, trusting the team not just for eye tests and eyewear, but for continuity of care and a friendly, familiar experience every time they visit.
In recent years, the business has entered an exciting new chapter under the ownership of Joe O’Connor, who is committed to building on the strong foundations established by Gerald and Mary.
